History’s Masculine and Feminine Moods: The Three Epochs of Human History

yin yang moon sunRobert Keck suggested that human history can be divided into three major epochs:

Epoch I is characterized as our infancy, when we lived in the bosom of nature, with out feminine sensitivities more prominent. This was the Paleolithic and early Neolithic epoch of the Mother Goddess, when feminine mystery, wisdom and fertility revered.

Epoch II represents our adolescence, when masculine aggression began to gain ascendancy over feminine sensibilities, and we entered into the empire building and warring phase of history which brought us from the first cities to today’s megalopolis. This epoch sees the development of identity and the individuation of Ego.
